David Blunkett on Thinking Skills:
I have been very impressed by the growing evidence in this country and abroad of the impact on standards of systematic and disciplined approaches to the teaching of higher-order thinking skills. For these reasons, from this autumn, we shall pilot a professional development programme designed to ensure secondary teachers know how to teach higher-order thinking skills through their subjects.
Rt. Hon David Blunkett MP, Secretary of State for Education and Employment, 6th January 2000
